As part of this expansion, the organisation is seeking an Engineering Manager to provide leadership across Android product development and engineering delivery within a highly visible customer-facing area.

About the Role

This is a leadership opportunity for an Engineering Manager with a strong Android engineering background. You will work closely with Product Managers, senior engineering leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to drive the delivery of Android products that support strategic business objectives and enhance the overall customer experience.The successful candidate will combine technical credibility with strong product awareness, architectural expertise and the ability to lead engineering teams through complex delivery challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Android-focused engineering teams delivering customer-facing mobile products.
• Drive engineering delivery against business priorities and product roadmaps.
• Partner closely with Product Managers to align delivery with customer and commercial objectives.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance across Android development initiatives.
• Influence architectural decisions and long-term technical strategy.
• Manage team performance, engineering quality and operational effectiveness.
• Build strong working relationships across engineering, product and business teams.
• Coach and mentor engineers to support both personal and professional development.
• Identify and remove delivery risks, blockers and dependencies.
• Drive continuous improvement across engineering practices and delivery processes.
• Contribute to planning, recruitment and team growth activities.
• Ensure solutions remain scalable, secure, reliable and aligned with engineering standards.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager within mobile product (Android) environments.
• Strong Android engineering background with previous hands-on Android development expertise.
• Experience leading Android engineering teams within large-scale digital organisations.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design and mobile engineering best practices.
• Experience working closely with Product Managers and senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Demonstrable experience delivering customer-facing mobile applications and services.
• Strong technical leadership and decision-making capabilities.
• Experience operating within Agile product delivery environments.
• Ability to balance business priorities, product requirements and engineering quality.
• Experience within consumer technology, digital product or platform-based organisations would be highly advantageous.
