Senior DevOps Engineer - AWS

• Work location - Bromley/Croydon (Mostly Remote)
• £80000 - £90000 PA + benefits
• British Citizens only and eligible for SC Clearance - this is due to the environment of the work.

Digital Skills are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join a great client, supporting large-scale projects within the UK public sector. This role offers the opportunity to design, build, and optimise secure cloud platforms, while also mentoring junior engineers and influencing best practices across the organisation.

This position requires eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC). To be considered, applicants be sole British Citizens and eligible for SC Clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Develop automation for deployments, monitoring, testing and maintenance.
• Define and enforce policies for security, compliance and disaster recovery.
• Optimise infrastructure for high availability, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Champion observability and build monitoring/logging solutions (CloudWatch, ELK, Grafana).
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application issues.
• Mentor and support junior DevOps engineers.

Skills and Experience Required

• 5+ years' experience in AWS infrastructure design and management.
• Strong knowledge of AWS Organisations, Control Tower, and Landing Zones.
• Expert in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or Ansible.
• Linux/Unix systems administration and a strong networking/security background.
• Advanced knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficient Scripting skills (Python, Go, Bash, JavaScript or similar).
• Experience with AWS security services (GuardDuty, Shield, Inspector, Security Hub).
• Strong background in CI/CD pipeline development and management.
• Experience with AWS CDK (TypeScript).
• Knowledge of serverless technologies (Lambda, API Gateway, SAM)
