Senior Learning Experience Designer

Location: Manchester - 2 days a week
Contract Type: Inside IR35 - 12-month contract
Pay: £55 per hour (40 hours a week)

Digital Skills are seeking an experienced Senior Learning Experience Designer to lead the design, development, and curation of innovative learning solutions. This role will shape impactful learning experiences that align with business needs, utilising cutting-edge technologies, methodologies, and design principles to enhance learner engagement and business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement learning content and curation in line with learner experience standards and strategic goals.
  • Apply best-in-class tools, processes, and templates to create scalable, measurable, and engaging learning solutions.
  • Collaborate with business partners, programme specialists, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality learning design, content, and campaigns within agreed timelines.
  • Lead or contribute to project teams, building partnerships with subject matter experts and vendors to deliver effective solutions.
  • Pilot and implement innovative technologies and processes, evaluating their impact and benefits.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including sourcing, commissioning, and ongoing collaboration.
  • Facilitate both virtual and in-person learning sessions as required.
  • Continuously develop professional knowledge and benchmark internal practices against industry best practice.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5-8 years' experience in learning design, content creation, or related roles.
  • Expertise in learning technologies, instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, Agile), and blended programme design.
  • Proven ability to create engaging storyboards, scripts, and instructional content.
  • Strong project management skills in both waterfall and agile environments.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to align learning with measurable business impact.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS), authoring tools, and an understanding of UX design principles.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with LMS Front End UX and potential coding.
  • Strong business impact awareness for learning initiatives.
  • Creative and forward-thinking approach to learning experience design.
