Product Owner - Back End

We are working with a growing digital first healthcare business in Brislington, Bristol who are looking for a Back End Product Owner to take ownership of the systems that power their entire operation behind the scenes.

This is not a customer facing feature role. Instead, you will own the core order management platform, APIs and integrations that sit at the heart of the business, connecting eCommerce, consultation workflows, warehouse systems and third party partners.

You will work closely with a fully remote engineering team and internal stakeholders across marketing, operations and leadership to shape requirements, prioritise the roadmap and deliver reliable, scalable backend improvements. Much of the technical direction is already defined, so this is about strong ownership, structured delivery and making sure the right work lands well and goes live smoothly.

Day to day you will be writing clear specs and stories, refining backlogs, planning releases, supporting QA, coordinating launches and acting as the bridge between technical teams and the wider business. You will report into the Senior Product Owner and be trusted to take real accountability for delivery.

They are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, understands how backend systems and APIs work, and is comfortable operating in a more mature environment with clear priorities and less chaos.

This role is Bristol based with an initial on site ramp up period, moving to around three days per week in the office once established.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner or Delivery Manager working closely with software engineering teams
  • Strong backend or platform exposure, ideally owning internal systems, integrations or APIs rather than purely front end features
  • Confident discussing technical concepts such as APIs, system integrations, data flows and architecture, without needing to be hands on coding
  • Proven track record of delivering technical projects end to end, from discovery through to launch and adoption
  • Able to write clear requirements and translate business needs into actionable work for developers
  • Comfortable balancing roadmap priorities, maintenance work and operational stability
  • A previous development, QA or technical background would be helpful but is not essential

Benefits

This is a really exciting and fast growing company and they're offering a starting salary of £48,000 - £55,000. The development team is fully remote but they value in person collaboration, so you will spend more time in the office initially while learning the systems, then typically around 3 days per week in Bristol once settled. There is a clear roadmap, modern tech and the opportunity to own genuinely business critical systems rather than surface level features.
