Finance Analyst
Finance Analyst | Leicester | £40,000 to £50,000 + 25% Bonus + Benefits
If you’re the person people turn to when a dashboard needs rebuilding, a model needs improving or a manual process needs automating, this could be a really good fit.
We’re working on a confidential search for a well known business in Leicester that wants to significantly improve how its finance team uses data, reporting and technology.
This isn’t a traditional Finance Analyst role.
They’re looking for someone who combines good finance and commercial understanding with hands on Power BI, modelling and automation experience.
You’ll work with large and sometimes complex datasets, building models and dashboards that give senior leadership clearer and more useful information. You’ll improve existing reporting, reduce manual processes and help the wider team make better use of the technology available to them.
A big part of the role will be understanding what the business needs and then building something that works properly.
That could mean developing a new Power BI dashboard, improving the structure of a financial model, automating a repetitive reporting process or finding a clearer way to present a complicated set of data.
You’ll also need enough finance experience to understand what sits behind the numbers.
That means being comfortable thinking about things like ROI, payback, cash flow, scenario analysis and the commercial assumptions behind an investment, rather than simply producing the output.
You’ll become one of the go to people across the finance team for Power BI and advanced Excel, helping colleagues improve their own capability and raising the overall standard of reporting.
AI is also a genuine part of the brief.
You don’t need to be an AI expert, but you should be curious about where it can add value within finance and have ideas around how it could improve reporting, analysis and processes.
They want someone who will come in, understand what is already there and then start looking for better ways of doing things. This lines up with the internal brief, which focuses on financial modelling, dashboard development, automation, large datasets and improving reporting across finance.
What they’re looking for
You’ll need hands on experience using Power BI and Excel within a finance environment, alongside experience building financial models and dashboards.
They’re looking for someone who has used Power BI to build or improve reporting, rather than only working with dashboards created by others.
You could currently be working in FP&A, commercial finance, financial analysis or a finance focused analytics role.
A formal finance qualification isn’t essential, but you’ll need enough commercial finance experience to understand the numbers, challenge assumptions and build models that support real business decisions.
Just as importantly, you’ll enjoy improving things.
They want someone who will look at existing reports and processes, question whether there is a better way and use Power BI, automation and AI to make finance smarter and more efficient.
