Overview

Our client, a UK-based technology consultancy, is seeking an experienced DevOps Consultant to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for DevOps professionals who are passionate about automation, cloud engineering, and delivering high-quality solutions that make a tangible difference in both public and private sectors.

You’ll work on diverse projects that combine technical delivery with client collaboration. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments and enjoy working with modern cloud technologies and agile delivery models.

Please note: Candidates must hold active SC Clearance to be eligible for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead responses to outages and incidents, triaging issues and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Design, develop, and implement continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to improve delivery speed and quality.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to understand their technical landscape, workflows, and delivery challenges.
  • Automate processes wherever possible, promoting simplicity and efficiency in delivery.
  • Advocate for DevOps best practices within teams and mentor colleagues to build capability.
  • Contribute to internal communities of practice , sharing knowledge and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and client quality, information security, and environmental standards .

Requirements

Essential Experience:

  • Active Security Clearance (SC) .
  • Strong background in DevOps engineering within agile or consultancy environments.
  • Experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or CircleCI.
  • Proficiency in cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Skilled in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Solid understanding of containerisation and orchestration , e.g. Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation using Bash , Python , or similar languages.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on collaboration and stakeholder management.

Desirable Experience:

  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Experience working on government digital projects or to GDS standards .
  • Understanding of networking, security, and performance optimisation in distributed systems.

Working Arrangements

This is a hybrid position , with flexibility to work from home, client sites, or one of several regional hubs. Travel may be required depending on project and client needs.
