Overview

Our client is a rapidly growing digital consultancy delivering large-scale transformation programmes across public and private sectors. They are seeking a Lead Technical Architect to help define technical strategy, shape architectural standards, and guide the delivery of secure, scalable and well-engineered digital platforms.

This is a senior, high-impact position with responsibilities spanning technical leadership, consultancy, mentoring, thought leadership and pre-sales support. The role requires working closely with executive-level stakeholders, guiding long-term technology direction and enabling multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust, user-centred solutions.

The position is based in the UK, with flexibility to travel to client sites or regional offices as required.

Responsibilities

• Define and champion architectural vision, standards and best practices across the delivery function.

• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, including C-suite executives, on digital transformation and technical strategy.

• Lead complex, high-profile technical engagements, overseeing solution design and ensuring architectural quality.

• Mentor and support other architects and senior engineers, fostering capability growth and knowledge sharing.

• Lead technical contributions to pre-sales activity, including bid responses, technical due diligence and opportunity shaping.

• Contribute to thought leadership through public speaking, content creation and community engagement.

• Act as a technical authority, making and communicating decisions that influence multiple projects and long-term client outcomes.

• Ensure solutions are secure, scalable and aligned with modern engineering practices and industry standards.

• Support the creation and delivery of platforms underpinned by data insights, cloud-native architectures and continuous improvement principles.

Requirements

• Extensive senior-level experience as a Technical Architect delivering large-scale digital transformation programmes.

• Expert knowledge of major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience designing multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud architectures.

• Deep expertise in cloud-native technologies, including containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), serverless architectures and advanced CI/CD tooling.

• Significant hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and Terraform for complex, repeatable deployments.

• Strong background in technical leadership, mentoring and capability development.

• Experience influencing executive stakeholders and presenting complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Consultancy experience, including pre-sales work and business development support.

• Strong technical grounding in cloud security, networking and governance.

• Ability to work flexibly across different client environments, adapting approaches to meet organisational and technical contexts.

• Salary: £67,000–£76,000 per annum.
