Title: Full Stack Developer

Location: Remote (UK/Canada / US)

Company: Documoto (Valstone Portfolio)

About the Company: Documoto is a SaaS platform helping industrial and manufacturing companies modernize how they manage and distribute technical content — from parts catalogs to service documentation and aftermarket materials. Based in Colorado, Documoto operates as a focused, lean business with a strong culture of trust and close collaboration. Documoto is part of the Valstone portfolio and recently merged with Belfast-based CADshare, extending its reach in the technical content space.

About Valstone: Valstone is an industrial software conglomerate that acquires and operates mission-critical software businesses across agriculture, logistics, food processing, bulk materials, and manufacturing. With 19 acquisitions completed across Canada, the USA, and the UK, Valstone takes a long-term, buy-and-hold approach — building businesses rather than exiting them. About the Role: Reporting to the Director, Architecture & Innovation, this Full Stack Developer role sits at the centre of Documoto's next phase of R&D. This hire will carry meaningful breadth — contributing across product development, platform security and compliance, and the quality disciplines that keep enterprise customers on side. Documoto's enterprise customer base has high expectations: a healthy product roadmap, a reliable platform, and a commitment to security. This person will be a direct contributor to all three.

Responsibilities

Full Stack Development

  • Design, build, and maintain features across both front-end (Vue.js) and back-end (Java/Kotlin) layers of the Documoto SaaS platform.
  • Write clean, modular, well-tested code following object-oriented design principles. Participate in code reviews and hold a high bar for what ships.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Architecture & Innovation and Product on scoping, requirements, and effort estimation — translating customer and business needs into well-defined engineering tasks.
  • Use AI-powered development tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot) as standard instruments throughout the development workflow.
  • Contribute to platform architecture decisions and help improve engineering practices over time.

Security

  • Promote secure coding practices, conduct security-focused code reviews, and support vulnerability identification and remediation.
  • Maintain and evolve the risk register in coordination with leadership and DevOps.

Platform Quality and Release

  • Contribute to QA disciplines — test coverage, regression strategy, and acceptance criteria validation — ensuring features are reliable before they reach customers.
  • Support release coordination: maintaining release checklists, communicating timelines, and ensuring pre-release steps are completed consistently.
  • Identify and resolve issues proactively; contribute to post-release reviews and continuous improvement of the delivery process.

DevOps and Infrastructure Awareness

  • Work alongside DevOps to understand and contribute to CI/CD pipelines, cloud resource management, and deployment practices.
  • Support monitoring, logging, and alerting improvements that help the team detect and resolve issues faster.
  • Enforce least-privilege access and secure infrastructure configuration as part of everyday development practice.

Qualifications

  • A degree is not required. Practical depth in full stack development and a security-aware engineering mindset carry more weight than credentials.
  • Full Stack Development - Solid, hands-on experience building and shipping features across both front-end and back-end in a SaaS environment. Vue.js and Java or Kotlin experience is a strong advantage.
  • Security and Compliance - Working knowledge of application security fundamentals — authentication, authorization, secure API design, access control.
  • Engineering Discipline - Writes clean, tested, maintainable code. Comfortable in Agile workflows, participates meaningfully in code reviews, and takes ownership of features end to end.
  • Cloud and DevOps Awareness - Familiar with AWS or equivalent cloud environments. Comfortable with CI/CD pipelines and the infrastructure concepts that underpin a reliable SaaS platform.
  • Communication - Can work effectively within a small team remotely. Clear communicator — in code, in documentation, and in conversation with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • AI-Assisted Development - Comfortable using AI-powered development tools as everyday instruments in the workflow. Candidates who are resistant to AI-assisted development will not be a good fit for this team.

Who Fits This Role: Documoto is a lean, close-knit team. The culture runs on trust, ownership, and showing up for the work. This is the profile that fits.

Broad by Nature - Does not need a narrow lane to operate effectively. Comfortable moving between a feature build, a security review, and a release checklist in the same week.
