Business Development Manager

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to drive new customer acquisition for Dods Group, the UK's leading political intelligence and policy insight provider.

In this role, you will focus on pipeline growth, executing a consultative sales process and ultimately ensuring the business achieves its quarterly targets. You will work closely with Marketing, Customer Success, and Product teams to deliver a scalable and predictable go-to-market strategy, including managing tender submissions.

What You Will Sell

You won't just be selling a login - you'll be helping our customers navigate a complex political landscape with confidence. You will need to clearly communicate the value of the full Dods offering, including:

  • Real-Time Intelligence: Political monitoring and election data solutions.
  • Stakeholder Tools: Impactful tools such as Dods People, a full library of Political intelligence of policy makers across parliament and the Civil Service.
  • Strategic Research: White papers, policy briefings, and bespoke political research.

About You

You are a commercially driven hunter, experienced in securing new B2B business and consistently meeting targets.

  • Experience: You have mid-to-senior level B2B sales experience, ideally within Information Services, Data, or Subscription/SaaS models.
  • Methodology: You understand solution-based selling (e.g., MEDDIC, SPIN, Challenger) and know how to map a complex stakeholder web.
  • Persistence & Resilience: You demonstrate the drive to cultivate opportunities over longer cycles and the persistence to get deals over the line.
  • Communication: You can write a compelling proposal, pitch to a C-Suite executive, and network effectively in a room full of policymakers.
  • Interest: An interest in public affairs, public policy, and regulatory developments, aligning with our business focus.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Hunt & Close: Own and exceed your quarterly New Business targets by aggressively developing and managing your own pipeline.
  • Vertical Ownership: Become an expert across sectors, understanding the regulatory and policy headwinds your clients face.
  • Full Cycle Management: Oversee the complete sales cycle from lead identification to deal closure (SQL → Closed Won).
  • Market Presence: represent Dods at networking events and industry forums to generate leads and brand awareness.
  • Commercial Strategy: Collaborate with the team on competitive analysis, market assessments, and lead generation campaigns to keep your pipeline healthy.
