Knowledge & Library Assistant
Job summary
An opportunity has arisen to work within our Knowledge and Library Services Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and customer services orientated individual to join our team, to provide a wide range of library services to NHS colleagues, learners and patients.
The successful candidate will carry out general library duties, including dealing with article and book requests, handle general enquiries, provide assistance to library users and be involved with promotional and outreach activities.
An ability to work both in a team and alone is essential, along with the ability to prioritise workloads and work well under pressure while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent communication and IT skills are also essential to this role.
Main duties of the job
To contribute to theday to daydelivery of front facing services at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals libraries and the delivery of proactive knowledge and information services to health care professionals throughout Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and contracted organisations.

Knowledge and Experience
- Experience of office work
- Excellent computer skills with demonstrable knowledge and skills using Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Knowledge or awareness of relevant legislation, e.g. Copyright Act and Data protection
- Experience of working in a library or information service
- Experience of using Library Management Systems
- Knowledge of effective use of social media, web and other technologies in a professional information environment
- Knowledge of how to use the internet to find health related information
Qualifications and Training
- GCSE grade C or above or equivalent in Maths and English
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g. libraries); or equivalent experience
- IT qualification e.g. European Computer Driving Licence, Microsoft Office or equivalent experience
