Community Staff Nurse
Job summary
Our busy District Nursing team in Weymouth and Portland is looking for Community Staff Nurses to join the teams. The ideal candidates will be dynamic and motivated with a passion for providing a high standard of nursing care to people in their own homes.
With excellent links to local universities, the training and development we are able to offer is first class, allowing rapid upskilling and support with new skills.
This is a full-time position and there will be a requirement to work weekends, late shifts (until 20: 00) and bank holidays .
Main duties of the job
The role includes, wound care, palliative care, IV drug administration, medication/ injection administration, diabetes management and many other diverse skills.
To provide a high-quality person-centred approach to care deliverywhich always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity.
To undertake assessment of patients / service users care needs anddevelop programmes of care as part of the wider multi-disciplinary careteam.
To provide advice to patients/ service users and carers regarding theircare.
To plan, implement and review health improvement programmes in arange of settings.
Provide supervision, mentorship, and clinical support to students andjunior staff in the team.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Person Specification
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND TRAINING
- Registered practitioner to degree/diploma level
- Membership of the relevant Professional Body
- Learning and Assessing in Practice Qualification or equivalent practice assessor/ practice supervisor training
- Evidence of recent professional development in an up-to-date portfolio
- Knowledge and understanding of Trust Strategy relevant to role
JOB SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE
- Experience of developing programmes of care for an individual or groups of patients/clients and of providing advice
- Demonstrable knowledge of assessment and therapeutic interventions in area of practice
- Ability to act as practice assessor/ supervisor to students / supervise other junior staff
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY/RESOURCES
- Experience of using electronic patient / service user record systems
- Able to evaluate data and produce reports using Microsoft Excel and Word
PERSONAL QUALITIES/ATTRIBUTES
- Experience of planning and organising ongoing activities, e.g., organise own time and that of junior staff and learners,
- Ability to evaluate care leading to improvement in quality standards and service improvement
- Demonstrable leadership qualities and the ability to perform as a role mode
- Able to analyse and assess situations and to interpret potentially conflicting situations and determine appropriate action, where there is a range of options and judgement is required
