Job summary
Are you a caring and compassionate HealthCare Support Worker looking to work in an outstanding rated Trust? Beech ward, based at Yeatman Hospital, Sherborne is looking for either for someone who has experience or new to care (training is available) to join our supportive team.
As a HealthCare Support Worker you will be working alongside a multi-disciplinary team, in a 12 bedded ward who provide sub-acute medical care, rehabilitation, Palliative / End of Life care for the local and wider community. Our Elderly Rehabilitation and End of Life Care unit achieved a nationally recognised accreditation in the Gold Standard Framework award for end-of-life care. Our team are a close-knit community, and we pride ourselves on always going the extra mile.
We offer training and great opportunities for continuing development with a comprehensive and structured induction programme and training.
The post is a full time/part-time role, we would be flexible and accept part time applications with a minimum of 12 hours. Shifts below
Long days 0730-2030
Weekend and public holidays at enhanced pay!

Main duties of the job

You will need enthusiasm and a commitment to provide the highest standards of care to patients, relative and carers, and the ability to provide professional clinical leadership. You will need to have an interest in working with older people and have good communication and organisational skills.

Person Specification
Knowledge, Skills and Training
- Existing NVQ level2/3 in Care Demonstrate high level clinical skill Existing observational skills ECG, Venepuncture
- Previous experience of working within a fast paced environment.
Job Specific Experience
- Experience of working in a hospital or community setting within care.
- Previous experience of working with a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to undertake basic baseline observations
Information Technology
- IT literacy in order to be able enter patient-related data into identified electronic record systems
Personal qualities/attributes
- Demonstrated ability at exercising tact and diplomacy
- Able to use own initiative within sphere of authority
