Nursing Associate
Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity within the Wimborne Adult Community Mental Health Team for a registered Nurse Associate to join the multidisciplinary team to provide excellent care to residents within the Wimborne and Crane Valley area.
The role will be part of an integrated health and social care team providing care and recovery for patients who are experiencing difficulties with their mental health.
The role will offer interventions in a wide variety of clinical, therapeutic and social forms with the aim of promoting health, wellbeing, self-autonomy and independence.
The post holder will have a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan and across the fields of nursing, providing holistic and person-centred care. They will work effectively as part of a team and provide support and guidance to less experienced staff and student learners within the clinical environment as needed. The nurse associate will work independently under the leadership of the registered nurses, working within the sphere of nursing and care and within all aspects of the nursing process.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will deliver planned care to a group of patients working within the standards of proficiency outlined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and in accordance with Trust policies and protocols.
They will demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide support/guidance to less experienced staff/learners within the clinical environment as needed.
Manage a defined group of patients/service users under the indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse, using evidence based/client centred principles to undertake a range of delegated tasks independently.
Contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient/service user care.
To promote health and prevent ill health in service users, contributing to integrated care.
To plan and undertake clinical tasks guided by standard operating procedures and protocols, within the limitations of the Registered Nursing Associate role.

Person Specification
1. Skills and Knowledge
- o Successful completion of the Nursing Associate apprenticeship
- o Registered Nursing Associate on NMC
- o Previous experience of working within a health/social care setting (2)
- o Subject to the provisions of the Equality Act, able to travel using own vehicle on Trust business. Level 1 or 2
- o Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal, and nonverbal communication) with patients, relatives/ carers and the multidisciplinary team.
- o Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required within the clinical setting
2. Job Specific Experience
- Previous experience of working within a health/social care setting
- Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the team and organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
3. Information technology / Resources
- Confident in the use of computer systems, spreadsheets, databases, data collection and co-ordination, word processing and report writing
- Experience of using electronic patient / service user record systems
4. Personal Qualities / Attributes
- Experience of planning and organising complex activities requiring the formulation and adjustment of plans .e.g. organizing own time, co-ordination with other agencies and plans for sudden, unforeseen circumstances.
