The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Data & AI Governance Manager to join a growing Data & Data Science function.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about data governance, compliance, and responsible AI. You will play a key role in ensuring data and AI assets are trusted, secure, compliant, and effectively governed to deliver business value.

Working across strategic programmes, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of Data and AI Governance, helping to establish robust governance frameworks while enabling the safe and scalable adoption of AI across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of Data and AI Governance frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain governance policies, standards, controls and best practices.
  • Support compliance, audit and risk management activities across data and AI initiatives.
  • Oversee data quality, critical data governance and governance operating models.
  • Promote the adoption of metadata management, data catalogues and data lineage capabilities.
  • Support AI governance, model oversight and responsible AI practices.
  • Facilitate governance forums and provide KPI reporting and insights to senior stakeholders.
  • Work closely with business and technology teams to embed effective governance processes.
  • Drive governance awareness and help build a strong data-driven culture across the organisation.
  • Support the safe, compliant and scalable use of data and artificial intelligence technologies.
About You

The successful candidate will bring a strong background in Data Governance along with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience implementing Data Governance within a complex organisation.
  • Good knowledge of recognised Data Governance frameworks such as DAMA and/or DCAM.
  • Experience developing governance policies, standards and controls.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Data Quality
    • Metadata Management
    • Data Lineage
  • Experience supporting compliance, audit and risk management activities.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the confidence to work with senior leaders.
  • Experience delivering successful outcomes through projects, programmes or business change initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across multiple business functions.
Desirable
  • Experience with AI, analytics or AI Governance.
  • Knowledge of AI model governance and responsible AI practices.
  • A genuine interest in developing expertise within the AI Governance space.
