Drax is looking for a Risk Analyst to join our Protection & Governance team at our site in Selby. As a Risk Analyst you will play a pivotal role monitoring trading activity across our Trading and Operations functions, identifying and investigating suspicious activity. You’ll help develop and maintain an effective surveillance framework ensuring that Drax meets its regulatory obligations.
As a Risk Analyst you’ll also support various projects across the team including process improvements, automation and change management initiatives, providing variety and development opportunities.

About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Compliance Manager you’ll focus on surveillance activities relating to the identification, monitoring and investigation of suspicious trading activity, from initial escalation through to resolution. Using both internal and market data, you’ll review patterns and carry out risk assessments, working with the team to create effective compliance frameworks and processes.
Key responsibilities include:
• Identify and lead changes to our surveillance process to drive effectiveness and efficiencies
• Conduct independent monitoring and investigations as required
• Support compliance monitoring and assurance frameworks (e.g. risk assessment and audits etc.)
• Build and manage relationships with key business areas including Trading, Operations and Legal
Who we’re looking for:
You’ll be comfortable analysing large data sets, coupled with demonstrable experience of using programming languages and tools such as SQL, Python and Power BI to analyse patterns and draw conclusions. You’ll then be able to communicate complex information simply and concisely.
Analytical and curious by nature, you’ll be driven to get to the route of a problem. Any previous experience or involvement in investigations is highly desirable.
Importantly, you must be able to demonstrate attention to detail, communicate complex issues simply and concisely, work under pressure, and have a willingness to learn.
