Role: Senior Backend Developer
A global fund is looking to hire a hands-on Python Engineer to join a growing technology team building modern, AI-enabled internal platforms and applications.
This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where engineering quality, automation, and product impact are highly valued. The team is looking for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, building scalable backend systems, and leveraging modern AI development tools to improve productivity and delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Building and maintaining scalable backend applications and APIs in Python
- Designing and optimising database structures across SQL and NoSQL environments
- Working closely with product, engineering, and AI-focused teams on new platform capabilities
- Improving application performance, reliability, and scalability
- Integrating third-party APIs and external services
- Contributing across the development lifecycle including testing, deployment, and monitoring
- Following clean coding principles and engineering best practices
What they’re looking for:
- 3+ years of software engineering experience with strong Python development skills
- Strong problem-solving and backend engineering capabilities
- Experience building production-grade applications and APIs
- Familiarity with databases such as MySQL and MongoDB
- Comfortable using modern AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code
- Full-stack development exposure is beneficial
- DevOps/SRE experience
- Computer Science background preferred but not essential
