About the Role
We're looking for a skilled and proactive gLMR Technician to join a growing technical team in Belfast. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced RF professional to take the lead in designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced wireless communication systems, including Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and gERRCS technologies.
In this role, you'll play a vital part in shaping and delivering reliable, high-performance wireless infrastructure. You'll work closely with engineering, commissioning, and project teams to ensure every system meets top-tier industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
RF System Design and Management
Design, develop, and optimize RF systems for LMR and gERRCS, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
Use GRID Mapping survey data to validate and update system designs and Bills of Materials (BOM).
Generate pre-installation RF coverage plots and lead design reviews.
Conduct peer and QA reviews to maintain quality and prevent over-engineering.
Project & Documentation Management
Provide hands-on technical support across project teams.
Maintain up-to-date project documentation, BOM links, and device counts within the gLMR Global Site Tracker.
Oversee system commissioning, working with internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues pre-handover.
Produce Device Enrollment documentation in line with gLMR System Commissioning Standards.
Technical Skills & Experience
Strong understanding of Motorola and Kenwood LMR systems - configuration, operation, and integration.
Expertise in IP protocols and network configuration.
Experience developing standardized DAS (Distributed Antenna System) designs.
iBwave Design Certification (Level 2 or higher) or equivalent experience (desirable).
Proven background in RF design, modification, and finalization.
Familiarity with MOTOTRBO Radio Management and SmartPTT.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects from design to commissioning.
Communication & Teamwork
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
