We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to deliver high-quality digital services for our clients IT service Management company, a leader in digital business transformation in the UK public sector, with a strong track record in central government environments.
Applicants must have demonstrable public sector experience — this is essential.
Role Overview
As Product Manager, you will lead the definition and delivery of digital products within Agile, multi-disciplinary teams. You will shape problems, set priorities, and ensure outcomes meet user needs and government standards.
Working closely with Scrum Masters, developers, user researchers, service designers, and technical leads, you will own and prioritise the product backlog, ensuring each sprint delivers measurable value. You will actively participate in sprint ceremonies and have full authority to accept or reject completed work.
You will collaborate with stakeholders across departments to translate strategic roadmaps into clear, deliverable backlog items, ensuring solutions meet user, business, and policy needs.
Key Capabilities
Agile Delivery
- Extensive experience in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
- Ability to lead teams through sprint and release cycles.
- Drives continuous improvement and removes delivery barriers.
Product Ownership
- End-to-end ownership of product backlog and prioritisation.
- Translates roadmaps into actionable user stories.
- Ensures products are user-centred, accessible, and aligned to assisted digital needs.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Strong experience engaging senior stakeholders within central government.
- Bridges technical and non-technical audiences effectively.
- Uses evidence and data to influence decisions and build consensus.
Requirements & Feature Definition
- Defines clear, testable product features across complex environments.
- Distils diverse stakeholder input into coherent requirements.
- Challenges constructively to ensure clarity, feasibility, and value.
Quality & Delivery
- Works with teams to maintain sustainable velocity and high quality.
- Oversees UAT and release planning.
- Supports root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
Business Analysis
- Strong process mapping and domain modelling capability.
- Assesses business value, cost, and risk of proposed features.
Essential Experience
- Significant recent UK public sector and central government experience (mandatory).
- Experience delivering digital services aligned to GDS principles.
- Proven background as a Product Manager or Product Owner in complex government programmes.
