IT Support Technician Apprentice (EDSB Compliance Solutions)
This is a great opportunity to start your career in IT and gain practical experience in a busy working environment.
Role
You'll support colleagues with day-to-day IT issues, help set up new users and equipment, keep IT records up to date, and work closely with the IT Manager on a range of tasks and projects. You'll receive support and guidance throughout your apprenticeship while developing the skills and experience needed for a successful career in IT.
As our IT Support Technician, you'll work closely with the IT Manager to support the day-to-day IT needs of the business while developing your own skills and experience. This is a hands-on role where you'll get involved in a variety of tasks, giving you the opportunity to learn how an IT department operates and build a solid foundation for a career in IT.
You'll be the first point of contact for colleagues needing IT support, helping to resolve everyday hardware and software issues and managing the IT support mailbox to make sure requests are picked up and dealt with in a timely manner. Where needed, you'll work with the IT Manager to investigate more complex issues and learn how to troubleshoot and resolve them.
You'll also be responsible for setting up user accounts for new starters, making changes to existing accounts and removing access for leavers. As part of the onboarding process, you'll prepare and issue laptops and other IT equipment, making sure everything is ready for a new employee's first day.
Keeping accurate records is an important part of the role, so you'll help maintain the IT asset register, ensuring equipment is recorded correctly and updated as devices are issued, returned or replaced.
As the apprenticeship progresses, you'll have the opportunity to be involved in projects as well as day-to-day support. This will include helping to introduce a new IT ticketing system, learning how support requests are logged and managed, and understanding how Service Level Agreements (SLAs) help measure response and resolution times. You'll also support the IT Manager with preparing the business for IT accreditation's and contribute to improving IT processes where appropriate.
You'll receive training and support throughout your apprenticeship, giving you the chance to develop both your technical knowledge and the practical skills needed for a successful career in IT.
