Test Automation Engineer

As a Test Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for the implementation and advancement of our testing capability into automation, across APIs and Web UI testing. You will also be capable of writing code to facilitate this form of testing. You will own the test automation discipline, ensuring it improves and evolves with best practice and product change. You will design, build and execute non-functional automated tests (e.g. Security, Performance etc.). You will be responsible for developing our current engineering team into one which can support the rollout of automated testing.

Hours of work: Full Time, Hybrid working (1-2 days in office)

Test Automation Engineer Requirements:

  • You are technical and interested in business critical, scalable applications using modern technologies on a mixture of cloud and on-premise platforms
  • You have a keen desire to learn and understand how energy retail and carbon management industries work
  • You should have strong communication skills, an analytical mindset and are comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
  • Strong understanding and experience of continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines
  • 4+ years experience in test automation
  • Have implemented automated API testing using tools like ReadyAPI, Selenium WebDriver and can demonstrate a strong understanding of API design
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Java/Groovy, SQL, Swagger/Open API with coding experience to resolve complex testing challenges where tools fall short
  • ISTQB or similar certification is a must

Desirable:

  • Experience with testing established business systems
  • Languages: Java/Groovy, SQL, Swagger/Open API
  • Interfaces: Web, API, Messages/Events, DB
  • Dev Lifecycle: Maven, GIT/Bitbucket, Jira Cloud, Zephyr, ReadyAPI, jMeter
  • Testing Types: API, Web, Security/PEN, Performance & Scalability, Thick Client, Integration, Automated Compliance
  • Command line: Linux shell/Bash
