AT A GLANCE

EMBS is supporting a growing Managed Service Provider delivering into a large, advanced manufacturing organisation operating within the defence and aerospace sector. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused architecture role in a complex, high-assurance environment, ideally suited to someone who can operate within constraints, work with predefined architectures, and still deliver high-quality, structured solutions.

ROLE PURPOSE

To interpret business and technical requirements and produce detailed, governed solution designs that enable successful delivery within a controlled, high-assurance environment.

You will act as the interface between the client and delivery teams, ensuring clarity, alignment, and execution across a large-scale transformation programme. Architecture and technology choices are largely predefined, meaning this role is less about greenfield design and more about translating complex requirements into structured, deliverable solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage directly with client stakeholders onsite to understand business requirements and technical challenges
  • Translate requirements into structured solution designs using pre-defined templates and governance frameworks
  • Produce high-quality, detailed design documentation suitable for client validation and sign-off
  • Act as the technical interface between the MSP and the end client
  • Ensure alignment between solution design, delivery plans, and architectural standards
  • Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and constraints across the solution lifecycle
  • Support delivery teams with clear specifications to enable build and implementation
  • Challenge and influence stakeholders where necessary to ensure optimal outcomes
  • Maintain strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Operate effectively within a highly secure, compliance-driven environment

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in a Solutions Architect, Technical Architect, or similar role
  • Background in infrastructure, cloud, or enterprise IT environments
  • Experience working on large-scale digital transformation or migration programmes
  • Experience working within structured governance and design frameworks
  • Ability to produce detailed technical documentation and design artefacts
  • Experience operating within complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Strong understanding of risk, dependencies, and delivery considerations

Strong understanding of:

  • Cloud and on-premise architectures
  • Data platforms, databases, and data migration
  • Enterprise systems and integration patterns

KEY SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, structured outputs
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of delivery impact
  • Confident in challenging and influencing at all levels
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and governance
  • Pragmatic approach to solution design within constraints
  • Able to balance technical depth with business understanding

WHY THIS ROLE

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused architecture role in a complex, high-assurance environment. It will suit someone who understands how to operate within constraints, work with predefined architectures, and still deliver high-quality, structured solutions that enable large-scale transformation programmes to succeed.

If you are looking for a role where you can add real value without reinventing the wheel, this is it.
