Are you looking to work on scalable AI products? Have you experience with system design and deployment? Emnet is partnering with a high-growth Series B Funded AI Fintech to hire an experienced Backend Software Engineer to support the design and development of scalable, high-performance Fintech products, whilst advising on critical business and platform functionality. The business has just gone to Series B and are in scale mode.
Great package, bonus, benefits and stock options (ISO) are on offer with the role. Additionally, they are open to location, with a preference to UK based candidates but EU based candidates will also be considered.
This role is suited to someone who is technically strong and communicated with all partners across the development lifecycle of AI products. You will play a key role in architectural decision-making, system design, and contribute towards engineering direction whilst working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.
ROLE
- Contribute to design and development of scalable backend platforms, services, and APIs
- Advise on architecture decisions across distributed and cloud-native systems
- Build secure, reliable, and maintainable systems with strong operational standards
- Collaborate directly with clients and stakeholders to define technical solutions and delivery approaches
- Take ownership of complex technical problems from design through production deployment
- Contribute to engineering strategy, standards, and best practices
- Improve system observability, scalability, resilience, and performance
- Work closely with product, engineering, and delivery teams in a collaborative environment
REQUIREMENTS
- Significant experience as a backend software engineer in production environments
- Strong expertise in backend system design, architecture, and distributed systems
- Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Python, Go, Node.js, or Java
- Strong experience with cloud infrastructure platforms including AWS, GCP, or Azure (AWS Preferred)
- Deep understanding of APIs, databases, and service-oriented architecture
- Experience designing systems for scalability, reliability, and operational excellence
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working directly with clients, partners, or senior business stakeholders
- Ability to operate independently and lead technical initiatives with minimal oversight
DESIRABLE
- Experience working within high-growth or startup environments
- Fintech experience but not essential
- Exposure to AI-enabled or data-intensive platforms
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation
- Previous experience mentoring more Junior engineers within delivery teams
ADDITONAL INFORMATION
This opportunity is intended for highly capable engineers who can combine deep technical expertise with strong communication and client engagement skills. Exceptionally strong engineers who may not meet every requirement but demonstrate significant technical capability will also be considered.
