Automation Quality Assurance Engineer - Digital Platforms

At E.ON Next, we're redefining how millions of customers experience energy through our digital platforms. Every interaction matters from web to mobile and we're on a mission to make each one seamless, reliable and human.

We're looking for a curious, detail-driven and proactive Quality Assurance Engineer to help us build exceptional digital experiences. You'll be part of a growing QA team that plays a central role in shaping the quality, performance and stability of our products.

If you love diving into both the technical and human side of software, have an eye for detail and get a thrill from seeing your testing contribute to flawless customer journeys this could be the role for you.

We believe in balance, flexibility, autonomy and inclusion are at the heart of how we work. Our teams have the freedom to do their best work wherever they thrive, with hours and arrangements that support real life.

Here's a taste of what you'll be doing:

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring quality across our digital platforms from backend logic to front end usability. You'll be hands on with both manual and automated testing, building quality in from the very first story and ensuring that releases are stable, usable and trustworthy.

You'll work shoulder to shoulder with developers, product owners, designers and data teams not just finding issues, but preventing them.

You'll lead from within by:

  • Embedding quality early in every sprint and delivery process. Ensuring data displayed to customers is accurate, validated and consistent across all channels

  • Building out our automation frameworks and improving test coverage using Cypress. Continuously refining our testing approach through feedback, analytics and monitoring insights

  • Balancing speed and rigour, ensuring we ship fast but never at the expense of customer trust

What you'll own:

Quality & Test Execution

  • Own end-to-end testing from planning to release, partnering closely with developers, POs, and designers. Create and maintain high-quality test artefacts, apply risk-based testing to protect critical journeys, and champion exploratory, usability, and accessibility testing.

Automation & Continuous Testing

  • Build and improve our Cypress automation framework, contributing reusable scripts and test harnesses. Embed automation into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing, rapid feedback, and confident releases.

Data Validation & Quality Insights

  • Ensure robust data validation across QA cycles, working with developers and analysts to verify API, transformation, and UI-level data integrity. Use monitoring, reporting, and data-driven insights to focus testing on high-risk, high-impact areas.

Collaboration & Quality Evangelism

  • Act as a strong advocate for quality in sprint ceremonies, align QA standards across squads, drive continuous improvement, and foster a culture of shared ownership for quality.

Are we the perfect match?

  • 4+ years' experience in QA roles, with at least 2 years testing customer facing web applications

  • Strong hands-on experience in manual and automation testing

  • Working knowledge of Cypress (or similar frameworks such as Playwright or Selenium)

  • Experience validating REST APIs and understanding of backend testing principles

  • Familiarity with SQL and data verification techniques

  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how QA fits into continuous delivery

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

  • ISTQB certification (or equivalent practical experience)

It would be great if you had:

  • Experience with React-based web apps or native mobile testing (iOS/Android)

  • Exposure to Appium, Sauce Labs, BrowserStack, or similar tools

  • Familiarity with BDD/TDD frameworks (e.g. Cucumber)

  • Experience in load testing, performance testing, or monitoring tools

  • Background in regulated or customer-centric industries (energy, fintech, etc.)
