BSc (Hons) Digital Marketer Degree Apprentice
Role
As an apprentice, you will spend 20% (1 day) of your time studying and working towards achieving your qualification off the job. 80% (4 days) will be spent working with your team and gaining the skills you need to build your expertise on the job, including:
- Web content
- SEO
- GA4
- Design
- Copywriting
- Email & social media campaigns
- Corporate event planning and delivery
You will work within a team where expertise and best practices drive innovation, allowing you to learn a wide range of digital marketing skills. This collaborative environment will provide you with valuable mentoring and support as you develop your skills in digital marketing.
You will work with experienced marketers to keep the MarTech stack* optimised, whilst helping to develop new initiatives tailored to the specific needs of our clients in the UK and EMEA. Your role will involve contributing fresh ideas and insights to the team.
*CRM, Shopify, Mailchimp, Social Media – LinkedIn, emailer & post purchase activities.
Training
- Course Duration: 4 Year, Undergraduate Course

- Training Location & Delivery: Predominantly online (Minimum 20%) 1 day per week
- Employment Support: OTJ Training 80% 4 days per week
The course is delivered predominantly online, through Anglia Ruskin Universities learning management system (LMS), ‘Canvas’. Apprentices’ learning is facilitated by experienced tutors and marketing practitioners under the guidance of ARU's academic team
Following a one-day, in-person, induction in the first week, to meet fellow apprentices, tutors, and have a full orientation on using the University’s library, academic regulations, and student support, there will be a series of 6 face-to-face workshops on either of our Cambridge, Chelmsford, London or Peterborough campuses, throughout the academic year.
These workshops will equip apprentices with the theory needed to illuminate their practice in the workplace and enable you to concentrate on developing the skills relevant to the role in the context of your own personal and professional development within ESSLAB.
20% off-the-job training (including, but not limited to online study, completion of assignments, shadowing etc.) as part of their normal working hours. Typically, we will release apprentice for around 47 days per year to undertake off-the-job training – the exact time required will be detailed in the apprentice’s Individual Training Plan.
Working within the B2B Sales and Marketing team at ESSLAB, providing real work which is productive and provides the range of experience and opportunities required to enable you to complete the apprenticeship and enable future progression.
Full induction and training plan into the role and continuous on-the job training, support, and mentoring.
Travel costs to a place other than their normal place of work to undertake training and/or assessment related to their apprenticeship will be covered as part of the apprenticeship program.
We will offer an appointed supervisor and/or mentor for the duration of Apprenticeship. The mentor will be able to support the successful applicant to reconcile and relate the academic teaching and learning they access through the taught part of the programme (online and in-
person), to their role within your organisation.
ESSLAB will enabling the successful applicant to spend the required training hours (detailed in their individual training plan) from their working hours, committed to their studies through ‘Off-the-Job’ learning.
ESSLAB will provide access to suitable experiences and opportunities to enable them to complete the portfolio of evidence required by the assessment plan.
ESSLAB will take regular updates from the university on the progress of the apprentice on the academic programme.
ESSLAB and your appointed mentor will support the sign off the Apprentice for EPA Gateway.
