The Sustainable Finance Technology team is EY’s delivery team for sustainability projects in financial services. The team sits alongside other sustainability financial services teams, specifically the Sustainability Risk team (quantitative solutions, processes and frameworks for financial risk management), Sustainable Finance Transformation, Sustainable Finance Conduct and Non-Financial Risk as well as our dedicated assurance team (Climate Change & Sustainability Services).We see this as a real opportunity to directly help financial institutions be agents of change in the transition to a greener, more sustainable world.The Opportunity The Sustainable Finance Technology team is looking for candidates who are dedicated and capable of helping us to develop and grow our sustainable finance business.We are seeking high performing Managers to join our team. As a Sustainable Finance Technology Manager, you will primarily work with financial services clients across sectors including Banking & Capital Markets, Wealth & Asset Management and Insurance, to help them leverage data & technology assets in their sustainability initiatives. You will bring your deep understanding of ESG tools, applications and data vendors to help EY craft new sustainability solutions. You will also budget and manage project resources, reporting to senior client directors during these initiatives.This role sits within EY’s Technology Risk practice and will focus on the use of data & technology to manage sustainability challenges. Client work will be both local and global.There are a wide range of exciting sustainability-driven projects that you may be involved in, such as:Sustainable finance transformation and regulatory compliance programmesSustainable finance data strategy, architecture and data model designsTrading of Carbon and nature offsets on regulated exchanges, Article 6 registries, Digital MRV for Carbon projectsReporting and disclosures including TCFD, SFDR, SASB, GRI, EU Taxonomy & CSRDESG vendor selection assessments and vendor benchmarkingManagement of ESG technology strategy, design and implementationYour Key ResponsibilitiesYou will deliver ESG technology engagements on a standalone basis or as part of a larger transformation agendaYou will contribute to the development of technology services, approaches and solutions that enable our clients to meet sustainability objectivesYou will develop tactical and strategic solutions to sustainability tech and data issues through means such as data analysis, creating frameworks and/or working with developers to build new tools and modelsYou will support sales activities including drafting of project proposal documents, meeting potential clients, inputting into branding & marketing, managing pipeline and drafting contracts as requiredYou will lead teams on ESG technology engagements, providing direction whilst keeping a clear focus on anticipating and identifying risks, escalating issues as appropriateYou will partner with other sustainability-focused teams within Consulting and other EY service lines (e.g. Tax, Assurance, Strategy) to provide technology and data input that is aligned to their broader ESG strategy, initiatives and targetsYou will build relationships with ESG technology vendors to equip the team with the necessary resources and expertise to help our clients through ESG complexitiesYou will provide innovative insights for clients and contribute to thought leadership.You will actively drive operational efficiency on projects through budgeting, billing, and resourcingYou will invest yourself in your junior team members’ development and success Skills and Attributes for SuccessAs a Manager within the team, you will be expected to manage workstreams and people as part of a range of projects, and will regularly engage with client representatives, so it is essential that you bring the competencies that will allow you to do so: ESG Data and TechAbility to apply ESG data & technology to address new and evolving use cases within Banking, Capital Markets, Insurance, Wealth & Asset Management or Private EquityExperience in at least one of the ESG pillars and of at least some ESG regulations and their impact on financial services firmsUnderstanding of financed emissions and the role of financial services in meeting global environmental targetsExperience in ESG data & technology change programmes implemented and integrated within existing architectures and environmentsKnowledge of ESG data vendors, data models, common usage and associated pitfalls, as well as ESG market data trendsAnd/ or skillsCarbon and/or nature markets expertise, including voluntary carbon markets, compliance markets, Article 6 and market participants.Strong knowledge of carbon market data including MRV.Ability to translate business and sustainability requirements into data, technology and AI-enabled solutions.Business analysis skills, including requirements gathering, process mapping and operating model design.Broader Technology DeliveryExperience in solution architecture, data management & strategy and/or large-scale transformation programme deliveryGood understanding of agile and traditional SDLC delivery methods including experience using tools such as JIRA or DevOps.Understanding of modern technology such as process automation (ServiceNow, Pega) or cloud (Azure, AWS) how it’s delivered and used within the context of financial firmsConsulting and insurance, pensions, wealth and asset management and/or private equity specificallyTrack record of success running small projects or parts of large projects in the financial services and/or within a consulting environmentProfessional experience around data management and/or technology deliveryDemonstrable experience of the skills needed to succeed in a consulting role, with the ability to understand clients’ needs and develop innovative solutionsStrong academic record including a degree and ideally relevant professional qualificationsA minimum of 5 years relevant professional
