Job summary

This is an exciting and challenging role for an experienced data analyst to support the Head of Analysis and Business Intelligence in driving change and improvement through innovative, meaningful and impactful modern data analysis.

Joining an accredited (London Skills Development Network Excellence in Informatics - Level 1 2023) and award-winning (The Royal Statistical Society Florence Nightingale Award 2022, Health Service Journal Digital Awards 2024) department you will manage a group of senior data analysts through an exciting period of change. You will embrace modern data science techniques, visualization best practice and measurement for improvement to champion the use of data to support the trust objectives.

You will be supported by a cloud-based modern data architecture, powerful Power BI analytics and a strategic training plan based on the National Competency Framework for Data Professionals (NHS E/I)

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for deputising and assisting the Head of Analysis and Business Intelligence in the management of the Data Analysis department supporting Mental Health, Community Health and Primary Care. They will support the Head of Analysis and Business Intelligence by line managing a section of the Senior Data Analysts.

The post holder will work closely with Trust performance leads and service managers to ensure timely and accurate reporting on the performance of all Trust services. The post holder will also deliver performance reporting metrics against agreed specifications for internal and external stakeholders.

The post holder will work closely with the Head of Data Science and Data Warehousing ensuring the smooth and accurate flow of information from various ELFT source systems to staff in a digestible format.

Job responsibilities

    1. Development of a robust Data Analytics team for the Trust.
    1. To lead and be accountable for a section of Senior Data Analysts in managing and monitoring the analytical needs of the mental health, community and primary care services in the Trust.
    1. Able to respond in a flexible and timely manner to all information requirements by the Trust, Commissioners and external partners where appropriate.
    1. Ensure all operational deadlines for the delivery of performance reports to both internal and external stakeholders are met.
    1. Accountable for the delivery of efficient and effective reporting for mental health, community health and primary care which can adapt to both changes in national and local policies, and locally driven trust service requirements.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualification/ Training

Essential
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
Desirable
  • Evidence of qualification or Training in Staff Management or leadership.

Experience

Essential
  • Specialist knowledge of complicated Data Systems
Desirable
  • Experience of collating data and writing strategic reports

Knowledge and Skills

Essential
  • Ability to analyse complex facts and present data in relevant formats.
  • Ability to lead teams and motivate staff to achieve tasks within tight deadlines
  • Advanced Programming skills (SQL, Python or similar)
Desirable
  • Skills in Power BI or similar software.
