Applications are invited for an exciting opportunity for a Band 8c Pathology Network Head of Digital Programme.
This is a fantastic and rare opportunity to demonstrate your leadership skills and deliver a programme of key projects within a developing Pathology network.
The role will be hosted by East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust but will be based across the Sussex Pathology Network (SPN) which includes three Trusts:
- East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT)
- University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSussex)
- Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (QVH)
This is a Provider-based leadership roleresponsible for supporting theProgrammeDirector/MDin achieving the aims of the Sussex Pathology Network Digital programme, and toprovide a balance of continuity and flexibility as the programmemoves through different phases.The role will be a challenging one, working across a complex suite of projects .Ability to act and think strategically, developing practical,innovativeand creative solutions to the management of strategic issues and complex problems is essential.
Main duties of the job
The Head of Digital Programme must be flexible to work across the range of projects in the portfolio.
The key responsibilities of the role are to support delivery of theSPN priority Digital Projects.
In particular, the Head of Digital Programme will be engaged in areas that include but are not limited to:
- ManagingagreedSPNprioritisedprojects (LIMS, OCS, infrastructure etc) on a day-to-day basis, including managing staff and contractors within the team.
- Supportingthe programme and programme partners to respond to national requirements and guidance.
- Maintainingeffective relationships with a wide range of senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Identifyingand propagating best practice and innovation opportunities;
- Work collaboratively with other strategic work streams.
- Coordinate SPN responses to regulator and assurance requirements.
- Identifyingand bringing together key stakeholders tofacilitatea collaborative approach to transformation and new ways of working.
The post holder maybe requiredto work at any of the Network Provider sites across the footprint, in line with the needs of the programme.
The responsibilities and nature of the role may evolve as the implementation of the SPNprogresses.

Qualifications
- Educated to Master's level or equivalent level of experience
- Evidence of post-qualifying and continuing professional development
Experience
- Demonstrable experience of overseeing a programme management framework
- Highly specialist knowledge and understanding of project and performance management
- Demonstrable understanding of the relationships between the Department of Health, the NHS Commissioning Board, NHS Improvement, and individual provider and commissioning organisations, gained through relevant experience
- Demonstrable understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy, including the ability to assess and apply its implications for the SHCP, gained through relevant experience
Skills
- Proven experience of analysing, interpreting and presenting complex information to a range of stakeholders, including senior leaders
- Experience of negotiating on sensitive or complex issues
- Advanced analytical and numerical skills, with experience using Excel to manage and interpret data
- Experience of contributing to or leading strategic planning processes and developing programme plans with stakeholders
- Ability to work independently, manage workload effectively and make autonomous decisions on complex issues
- Experience of managing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Demonstrable organisational skills, with experience of working under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Knowledge and experience of financial processes and their application in planning and delivery
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications to support analysis, reporting and communication.
