Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced analyst to work within the Information Management & Performance Team at East SussexHealthcare NHS Trust. This is an innovative role where creativity and initiative will be encouraged to help shape our future self-service interactive reporting and predictive modelling needs.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a bright team player who is enthusiastic, analytical with strong numerical ability and who can thrive in a busy, fast pacedenvironment. Whilst an NHS Trust background would be an advantage, this is not essential. You will need to demonstrate advanced SQL andExcel skills, as these are pivotal in this role. You will be able to prioritise, work to tight deadlines as well as have excellent organisational skills and high attention to detail.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Good general level of education including maths and English
  • Evidence of continued professional development to degree level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience

Experience

Essential
  • 3-5 years' experience of undertaking analysis of data to support business decision making using large data sets.
  • Experienced in the use of relational databases and MS Excel spreadsheet.
  • Knowledge / experience of Microsoft SQL server
Desirable
  • 3-5 years' experience of working in the NHS
  • Knowledge / experience of NHS datasets and care pathways
  • Experience of the development and release cycle.
  • Experience of Microsoft SQL reporting platforms

Skills

Essential
  • The ability to exercise own initiative and work independently to achieve objectives and deadlines.
  • The ability to manage both a high quality service to meet the demands of the business division and maintain a close professional working relationship with the wider information service.
  • Skills in developing, maintaining and manipulating highly accurate and complex information systems such as databases or spreadsheets.
  • Good working Knowledge and skills in the use of MSSQL and MS Excel.
  • Excellent problem solving skills to the development of advanced analytical methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A high level of interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to plan, prioritise and assign tasks to support staff.

Knowledge

Essential
  • A general understanding of the NHS and key developments shaping the information agenda.
  • NHS Information and data modelling concepts
  • NHS data standards and terminology, including clinical datasets.
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of relational databases, information reporting and advanced queries.
  • Good knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018 and ability to work confidentially with patient level information.
Desirable
  • NHS Data Dictionary
  • Working knowledge of R language and concepts
  • Working knowledge of ASP.net
