Information Analyst - Information & Performance

Job summary

We are recruiting for an Information Analystwho shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The Information Analyst role will be required to assist the information team in particular the Senior Information Analysts to meet the internal and external information reporting requirements of the Trust.

You will be expected to develop reports and help end users to analyse and interpret the information disseminated by the Information Team. They will take responsibility for specific areas of activity and take the lead in making recommendations for improvements where necessary with regards to the monitoring of activity, performance, data quality and data collection systems.

You will be expected to develop expertise in specific areas and will also be expected to develop an understanding of all areas of the service.

You will ensure daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly information flows are met in accordance with the requirements of the Trust and external stakeholders, and to provide managers with timely and accurate information which will support performance requirements and inform the strategic decision-making process.

Main duties of the job

Analysis and interpretation of data to support data-driven decision-making.

Providing specialist and expert knowledge to Divisions.

End-user support for software including Excel, SQL and Power BI.

Developing reports to agreed specifications and advise end-users.

Agreement on annual objectives with line manager and participation in a regular process of appraisal and review.

Undertaking appropriate training courses as identified as part of the appraisal process to effectively carry out the responsibilities of the post.

Qualifications/Training

Essential
  • Education to degree level or equivalent relevant NHS experience
  • Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development
Desirable
  • Master's degree in mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computing or other primary science subject, or specific Information-related experience

Previous Experience

Essential
  • A thorough knowledge of Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook
  • Experience of one or more computer programming languages
Desirable
  • Experience working in an Information environment
  • Experience working in a Health care setting

Skills

Essential
  • Advanced knowledge and highly skilled in the use of MS Excel
  • Able to analyse, present and interpret several data sources
Desirable
  • Able to understand different data queries
  • Able to identify information requirements Intermediate SQL skills- data management, interrogation & analysis products

Knowledge

Essential
  • A thorough knowledge of Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook
  • Understanding of NHS data standards, information governance requirements and the principles of data quality management

  • Knowledge of clinical terminology
