Information Governance Partner
Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Information Governance Partner to join our Governance and Resilience Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of a high-quality Information Governance service across the Trust, helping to ensure the safe, secure and lawful use of information.
Working within a business partnering model, you will act as the dedicated Information Governance contact for a range of clinical, operational and corporate services. You will provide advice, guidance and practical support across a broad range of Information Governance disciplines, including data protection, confidentiality, records management, information sharing, information asset management, risk management and information rights.
The role offers the opportunity to work closely with service managers, clinicians and support teams, helping them understand and meet their Information Governance responsibilities while supporting service improvement, digital transformation and compliance initiatives. You will also contribute to incident management, audits, assurance activities, staff training and continuous improvement programmes.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in governance, administration or information-related services who is looking to develop their skills within a supportive and collaborative Information Governance team.
Main duties of the job
- Act as the designated Information Governance Partner for allocated services, providing advice, guidance and day-to-day support on Information Governance matters
- Build effective relationships with managers and staff, developing an understanding of service activities, information flows and associated governance risks
- Support compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, NHS requirements and Trust policies
- Assist with the management and investigation of Information Governance incidents, privacy concerns and data protection matters.
- Support the completion and review of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Information Asset Registers and Records of Processing Activities
- Work with Information Asset Owners and operational teams to identify, assess and manage Information Governance risks
- Participate in audits, compliance monitoring and assurance activities, helping services implement improvements and maintain compliance
- Support the handling of Subject Access Requests, Freedom of Information requests and other statutory information requests
- Deliver Information Governance awareness sessions, training and guidance to staff
- Maintain governance records, performance information and reports, highlighting risks, trends and emerging issues
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives and organisational governance objectives
- Work collaboratively with Information Governance colleagues to provide cross-cover and ensure a resilient, responsive service

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
The Information Governance Partner will play a key role in supporting the Trust's Information Governance function, acting as a dedicated Information Governance adviser to allocated clinical, operational and corporate services. Working within a business partnering model, the post holder will provide expert guidance and practical support to help services meet their responsibilities relating to data protection, confidentiality, records management, information sharing, information security and wider Information Governance compliance.
The post holder will develop effective working relationships with managers and teams across their designated areas, acting as the first point of contact for Information Governance enquiries and supporting services to identify, assess and manage information risks. They will contribute to the delivery of organisational objectives by promoting compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, NHS standards and Trust policies, helping to ensure Information Governance is embedded within day-to-day service delivery and service development activities.
Key responsibilities will include:
Providing advice and support on Information Governance matters including data protection, confidentiality, records management, information sharing and information asset management.
Supporting the investigation and management of Information Governance incidents, data breaches, privacy concerns and information rights requests, ensuring appropriate actions are progressed and escalated where required.
Assisting services in identifying and managing Information Governance risks and implementing appropriate controls and improvement actions.
Supporting the completion and review of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Information Asset Registers, Records of Processing Activities and other governance documentation.
Working closely with Information Asset Owners and service managers to maintain compliance and improve governance arrangements.
Participating in Information Governance audits, compliance reviews and assurance activities, producing reports and monitoring agreed actions.
Supporting the management of Subject Access Requests, Freedom of Information requests and other statutory information requests.
Delivering Information Governance awareness sessions, training, briefings and communications to staff and supporting a culture of information governance compliance and accountability.
Maintaining accurate records, registers, governance systems and performance information, identifying themes, trends and emerging risks.
Contributing to service improvement initiatives, audit programmes, organisational assurance activities and governance projects.
The post holder will be expected to work independently within defined procedures while maintaining close working relationships with the wider Information Governance team. They will provide cross-cover for colleagues, support Trust-wide initiatives and contribute to the delivery of a consistent, responsive and high-quality Information Governance service across the organisation.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- oNVQ Level 4 (or equivalent experience)
- oEvidence of relevant training or willingness to undertake IG training
- oInformation Governance or Data Protection qualification
- oRelevant NHS or governance training
Experience
