Lead Buyer

We are working with a leading organisation to recruit an experienced Lead Buyer to support a high-profile business transformation programme. This role will take ownership of complex procurement activity, working closely with international colleagues, internal stakeholders and suppliers to deliver strategic projects successfully.

The successful candidate will have a strong procurement background and experience managing complex projects or programmes. Although the position sits within an IT transformation programme, candidates from a range of procurement backgrounds will be considered where they can demonstrate strong strategic procurement and project management experience.

Typical duties:

• Lead strategic RFI and RFP activity, identifying suitable suppliers and partners
• Take ownership of complex procurement projects, working with stakeholders to understand requirements and develop appropriate SOWs
• Manage supplier relationships and contracts, ensuring performance, quality and delivery requirements are met
• Develop and support supplier relationship management strategies, working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers
• Drive supplier performance, value creation and the resolution of commercial or delivery issues

The successful candidate:

• Experienced procurement professional with a strong track record of managing complex strategic projects or programmes
• Confident managing the full procurement process, including RFI/RFP activity, supplier selection, contracts and stakeholder engagement
• Comfortable working with international colleagues, stakeholders and suppliers
• Strong relationship builder with the confidence to operate at senior stakeholder level
• Able to take ownership of large procurement projects and drive them through to successful delivery
