Our client is building next‐generation data capabilities to power a merchant‐first ecosystem — and they are looking for a hands‐on Data Engineer with strong database fundamentals and production‐grade engineering experience.

If you enjoy designing databases (not just querying them), building scalable pipelines, and solving real-world data challenges, this role is tailor‐made for you.

As a Data Engineer, you will:

  • Design, create, and maintain scalable data pipelines
  • Build and optimise database schemas, tables, and cloud‐native workflows
  • Develop reliable ETL/ELT processes
  • Write and tune high-performance SQL across production systems
  • Transform and model data for analytics, reporting, and finance
  • Work closely with BI, Finance, and Engineering teams
  • Own deliverables end‐to‐end in a fast‐moving fintech environment

⭐ Your Background

Essential (Primary Profile)

We are looking for someone with 1–3 years of hands-on experience who can demonstrate:

  • Advanced SQL, ideally on Oracle or PostgreSQL
  • Complex queries
  • Optimisation and performance tuning
  • Financial‐grade precision (8–10 decimal points)
  • At least 1 year of Java programming experience
  • Collections, streams, filters
  • Groovy experience is a bonus
  • Experience building and maintaining production data pipelines
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Airbyte)
  • Exposure to SOAP/REST APIs and cloud object storage (S3, Blob, Oracle Bucket)
  • Experience with modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift) & DBT

Nice to Have

  • Oracle systems or cloud experience
  • Groovy
  • Automation/testing frameworks
  • CI/CD & version control best practices

⭐ Alternative Profile (Optional Fit)

If you don’t match the above but instead have:

  • 3–4 years as a Data Engineer,
  • Strong Airflow pipeline orchestration experience, and
  • Experience working within a fintech environment

...we still want to hear from you.

🌍 Why This Role?

  • đŸ’» 100% remote within the UK
  • đŸ€ Small, empowered teams with real ownership
  • ⚙ Modern, outcome‐driven engineering culture
  • 📈 Opportunities to grow your technical depth and influence high-impact initiatives
