Data Engineering Manager - London - Hybrid - £70k £85k

My client is looking for a Data Engineering Manager to build modern platform foundations that directly power commercial growth. The successful candidate will lead their technical platform evolution across a dynamic, multi-brand environment.

They are specific about the type of person they need for thsi role and do not want a passive ticket-taker. they are looking for a strong technical leader with executive presence. Someone who can guide an engineering team while actively engaging with business stakeholders, group architects, and governance leads to unlock value.

The role will involve oversight of a team of 3 direct and you will own the delivery of a scalable, governed medallion data architecture.

Role:

• Lead & Build: Manage, coach, and grow a high-performing team of Data Engineers and Analytics Engineers.

• Shape Architecture: Drive the local execution of our Group-provided data platform, building reusable analytics engineering data products and a scalable medallion architecture.

• Collaborate & Influence: Serve as the bridge between technical execution and business strategy, translating platform investments into clear business outcomes.

• Integrate & Governance: Work side-by-side with the internal Governance team to natively embed metadata, lineage, data quality, and cataloging capabilities directly into the platform pipeline.

Experience

• Strong track record leading Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering teams within modern data stack environments.

• Deep hands-on expertise with medallion architectures, dimensional modelling, transformation pipelines, and software engineering best practices.

• Gravitas and communication skills to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes, challenge group standards constructively, and align technical direction with business needs.

• Experience in multi-brand, acquisitive, or complex enterprise environments is highly desirable.

The rol EIS hybrid and requires the successful candidate to be onsite in the Central London office 2-3 days a week.
