Data Governance Lead - £65k - £80k - Hybrid London - Greenfield Project

My client is looking for a Data Governance Practitioner who thrives on influence, culture change, and real business engagement rather than pushing paper in a corner. who can come on board and work on a major data transformation across their multi-brand portfolio.

They already have the tooling in place and what they need now is an outcome-focused Data Governance & Engagement Lead with the gravitas and tenacity to bridge the gap between technical governance and true business adoption. This role will report into the Head of Data & Analytics, and will own data governance internally, establishing clear data ownership, stewardship, and literacy across their operating divisions.

Role

• Drive Ownership & Stewardship: Define and embed a pragmatic UK data governance framework, building an active network of accountable Data Owners and Data Stewards across their brands.

• Break Down Bottlenecks: Act as a strategic partner to business leaders, leveraging relationships to unblock data silos, resolve data quality issues, and drive cross-functional alignment.

• Champion Data Literacy: Lead business-wide engagement, training, and communication programs to increase data literacy and ensure widespread adoption of enterprise data tools and catalogs.

• Own the Strategy: Chair governance councils and working groups, turning compliance concepts into tangible business enablement and trust.

Experience

• Proven experience defining and embedding data governance, quality, and stewardship frameworks within complex or growing organizations.

• Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills-you speak fluent business, not just tech, and know how to win hearts and minds.

• High tenacity, curiosity, and the confidence to constructively challenge traditional ways of working

• Hands-on experience with enterprise data governance, catalogue, or metadata tooling.

The role will require the successful candidate to be onsite at the client office in central London 2-3 days a week.
