About the Role:

We are looking for a hands-on Lead GCP Data Engineer to join a strategic data platform programme for a major global insurer. You will lead the technical direction for data acquisition and onboarding, creating reusable ingestion frameworks that unify multiple business units onto a single Google Cloud Platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and delivery of scalable data ingestion patterns and metadata-driven pipelines.

• Establish engineering standards, reusable frameworks, and best practices across the team.

• Provide technical oversight and guide engineers to avoid one-off point-to-point integrations.

• Make data ingestion simple, repeatable, and automated for platform users.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong, demonstrable GCP data engineering experience.

• Proven background with ingestion engines and metadata-driven pipelines.

• Ability to define patterns, architecture, and standards across a multi-functional team.

• Strong understanding of reusable cloud engineering approaches.

The role requires the successful candite to work onsite 1 day a week either in London or York, remote the rest of the time.
