Cloud Platform Engineering Lead

We are currently partnering with a market-leading Lloyd’s Insurer to recruit a Cloud Platform Engineering Lead. • Own cloud platform architecture (primarily Azure with some AWS) ensuring security, scalability, resilience and alignment to enterprise standards and landing zone principles
  • Design and evolve shared platform capabilities including networking, identity, security, observability, backup and disaster recovery
  • Treat the cloud platform as a product with clear standards, roadmaps and continuous improvement
  • Remain hands-on building and evolving the platform using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and automation
  • Develop reusable patterns, configurations and modules for consistent platform use
  • Set and enforce engineering standards across cloud, automation and configuration management
  • Embed security by design aligned to standards such as NIST, ISO and GDPR
  • Own cloud security controls, policies and technical guardrails
  • Ensure high availability, resilience, backup and disaster recovery readiness
  • Act as a senior escalation point for cloud incidents and major outages
  • Optimise platform performance, availability and cost efficiency
  • Lead FinOps practices including cost management, budgeting and optimisation
  • Drive monitoring, alerting and observability while contributing to long term cloud strategy

Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years of hands‐on experience designing and operating cloud environments, primarily Azure (AWS experience beneficial).
  • Strong background in platform engineering, cloud architecture, and automation, not just infrastructure operations.
  • Proven experience building and owning cloud platforms using Infrastructure‐as‐Code, including the lifecycle management of terraform assets
  • Experience operating in regulated or security‐sensitive environments. Ideally the Insurance Market.
