We are partnering with a pioneering defence and technology organisation to recruit a System Design Engineer specialising in image processing and control. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a programme developing cutting-edge technologies, delivering solutions that push the boundaries of what is possible.The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping system requirements and translating them into actionable design and implementation outputs. You will collaborate across teams, guiding complex system designs, driving risk mitigation, and supporting technical decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.What you will do:

• Manage system requirements, verification, and compliance against a fast-moving baseline
• Generate detailed requirement sets and manage changes effectively
• Support system requirement flow-down to design and implementation teams
• Drive risk quantification and mitigation through trade studies
• Communicate technical issues, architectures, and ideas clearly to stakeholders
• Collaborate with partners, colleagues, and other departments to deliver high-quality outcomes
• Contribute to the growth and development of the Systems Design team

Skills and experience we are looking for:

• Familiarity with electronic engineering requirements and embedded software or firmware
• Experience developing complex system design requirements, particularly for software implementation
• Flexible systems thinking and the ability to translate technical information for varying audiences
• Experience with system architecting tools such as DOORS, DOORS NG, or Rhapsody is desirable
• Knowledge of lasers or optical physics is beneficial
• Strong determination to deliver high-quality results
