Principal Embedded EngineerTake technical ownership of an embedded engineering capability where you can shape architecture, development standards and long-term engineering practice. This is a principal-level role with genuine scope to influence how complex embedded systems are delivered.
What you will need
British nationalityExtensive experience developing embedded systems using C or C++Knowledgeof microcontrollers, System on Chip platforms and Field Programmable Gate Arrays is a plusWhat we offerA permanent principal-level position offering technical ownership, career progression and a broad remit across embedded software and firmware engineering.
Your role
Provide technical leadership across embedded software and firmware developmentShape engineering processes, workflows and development standardsDevelop architectures and guide detailed embedded system designDefine verification strategies, validation approaches and test plansLead the delivery of embedded engineering work packages from initial scope through to releaseSupport integration across software, firmware and hardware engineering disciplinesYour experience Strong embedded C and C++ development experiencePractical knowledge of modern microcontrollers, System on Chip technologies and Field Programmable Gate ArraysKnowledge of hardware description languages such as VHDL and associated verification toolsExperience producing technical specifications, architectures, design documentation and test proceduresUnderstanding of safety-related engineering standards such as Safety Integrity Level or Automotive Safety Integrity Level frameworksExperience mentoring engineers, providing technical guidance and improving engineering capabilityBenefits and balanceYou will enjoy practical benefits including: Employer pension contributions of up to 10.5%Structured career development with opportunities for salary progression outside the annual pay reviewFlexible working hours with defined core hoursA flexi scheme allowing additional hours to be taken back as time offFree lunch provided on siteThe role also offers scope to continue developing at principal level while influencing engineering practice, technical capability and the development of other engineers.
