Data Analyst
Data Analyst
£35,000 – £45,000 | Yorkshire, UK | Permanent
Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a growing UK organisation to recruit a Data Analyst as they continue to invest in and develop their data capability.
This isn't a role for somebody who simply receives a request, builds a report and moves onto the next one.
We're looking for someone who is naturally curious about data – somebody who asks the extra question, spots when something doesn't quite add up and thinks about what a stakeholder is actually trying to understand.
You'll join a developing data function with significant demand from across the organisation and play an important role in turning complex information into reporting that people can genuinely trust and use.
What you'll be doing
- Designing, building and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards
- Using SQL to analyse data across a complex, multi-system environment
- Working with stakeholders across Operations, Finance and senior leadership to understand reporting requirements
- Validating and reconciling information against source systems
- Investigating discrepancies and data quality issues rather than simply accepting the numbers at face value
- Helping define consistent metrics across the organisation
- Working closely with Data Engineering to ensure the right datasets are available for reporting
- Taking ownership of reports from initial requirement through to published, documented outputs
What we're looking for
You'll ideally have around 3+ years' experience within Data Analysis, BI or reporting and be comfortable working independently in a largely remote environment.
Technically, we're looking for:
- Strong Power BI skills, including DAX and Power Query
- Strong SQL
- Experience building reports and dashboards for business users
- A good understanding of databases and data structures
- Experience gathering requirements directly from stakeholders
- Excellent attention to detail and a genuine instinct to check and reconcile your work
Exposure to Azure, Databricks, data modelling or financial reporting would be useful, but isn't essential.
More than anything, we're looking for somebody who thinks commercially about data. If someone asks you for a report, your instinct should be to understand why they need it, what decisions they'll make from it and whether there's anything they haven't thought to ask.
The opportunity
The organisation has already made significant progress in developing its data environment and is now investing in the permanent capability needed to take that work forward.
You'll join a small, collaborative team where you'll have genuine influence over how reporting develops rather than simply maintaining a huge catalogue of existing dashboards.
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 depending on experience with flexible working.
