Financial Controller

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a leading manufacturing business in Rotherham as they look to appoint an experienced Financial Controller to join their senior finance team.This is a broad and commercially focused Financial Controller position, partnering closely with the General Manager and Senior Leadership Team to provide financial insight, constructive challenge and decision support that drives business performance.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the accounting and financial control activities for the Rotherham operation, whilst playing a key role in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, controls and continuous improvement. A particularly exciting element of the role will be leading the SAP Readiness Project for the Rotherham business, coordinating finance and cross-functional activity to ensure the site is fully prepared for the successful implementation and adoption of SAP.

Duties and responsibilities will include: -

• Act as a trusted Finance Business Partner to the General Manager and Senior Leadership Team, providing commercially focused financial insight, challenge and decision support.
• Partner with operational and functional leaders to translate business strategy into financial plans and identify opportunities to improve performance.
• Lead the accounting operations for the business, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Billing, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
• Prepare and publish accurate and timely monthly financial statements.
• Own and support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring reporting is accurate, compliant and delivered to agreed deadlines.
• Develop and maintain robust accounting processes, policies and internal controls.
• Coordinate regulatory and statutory reporting requirements.
• Support technical accounting activities and research accounting issues to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with departmental managers to establish transparent financial plans and monitor performance against them.
• Provide financial analysis and insight to support operational decision-making and business improvement.
• Ensure appropriate quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
• Identify and manage financial risks whilst ensuring adherence to company policies and relevant regulations.
• Develop strategies, budgets and plans to ensure the finance function remains aligned with wider business requirements.
• Lead the SAP Readiness Project for the Rotherham operation, owning the local readiness plan and coordinating finance and cross-functional activities, dependencies, risks and milestones.
• Ensure finance processes, master data, controls, reporting requirements, testing, training and change impacts are appropriately assessed and prepared for SAP implementation.

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller / Senior Finance professional who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with a genuinely commercial and operational approach.

You will ideally have the following skills and experiences:

• Previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
• At least 3 years' experience in a similar Financial Controller/ Finance Manager position
• Staff management experience
• CIMA qualified or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Strong experience across financial reporting, accounting and controlling.
• Proven experience preparing financial statements and managing month-end and year-end close processes.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis capability.
• Experience working closely with operational teams and influencing business performance through financial insight.
• Strong understanding of financial systems, ideally including SAP (Preferable)
• Experience of process improvement, change management or finance transformation projects would be highly advantageous.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge and influence senior operational leaders.
• A structured and analytical approach, with strong commercial awareness and problem-solving capability.
