Product / Technical Manager (Control & Monitoring Systems) Remote / Flexible Working | Self-Employed (Ltd Company) | Long-Term Engagement
Elevations Design & Projects division are supporting a growing, internationally focused engineering business operating within the control and monitoring systems space who, due to continued product investment and expansion, are looking to appoint a Product / Technical Manager to support the UK operation.
This is a key role sitting at the intersection of product development, engineering, and customer delivery. You’ll take ownership of a range of control and monitoring products (including heating, environmental and connected control systems), working closely with an overseas development team to ensure products are technically robust, commercially viable, and aligned to customer expectations.
This opportunity is suited to someone who enjoys a mix of hands-on technical input, product ownership, and customer interaction, with the autonomy to influence product direction and delivery.
Product / Technical Manager Key Responsibilities: Oversee the development, validation, and ongoing improvement of control and monitoring system products
Review and challenge Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), ensuring technical accuracy and completeness
Work closely with international development and manufacturing teams, managing progress and resolving technical challenges
Act as the key technical interface between customers and engineering teams
Support UI/UX decisions to ensure a strong and intuitive end-user experience
Provide technical escalation support for customer issues and product performance
Ensure all products meet required specifications, standards, and performance expectations
Product / Technical Manager Skills & Experience Required: Proven experience within control and monitoring systems (e.g. heating controls, environmental systems, or similar applications)
Strong understanding of IoT-based products and connected devices
Experience with communication protocols
Solid understanding of product development lifecycles and working with PRDs
Good grounding in electronics / PCB fundamentals
Experience working with overseas manufacturing or development teams is highly advantageous
Comfortable operating in a standalone, self-managed role with cross-functional responsibility
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Role Overview: This is a long-term engagement operating on a self-employed basis, with monthly invoicing via your own limited company. The role offers a high level of flexibility and remote working, with regular collaboration with international teams.
Given the nature of the position, it will suit an experienced professional who is comfortable taking ownership, working independently, and playing a key role in shaping product direction within a growing and evolving business.
