Systems Release Train Engineer Lead
We’re looking for a Systems Release Train Lead (Grade 12) to join the Technology function at Elexon on a permanent basis.
In this role, you’ll lead the coordination and delivery of system releases across complex, multi-team technology environments, supporting the successful implementation of Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS). Acting at the centre of delivery, you’ll ensure alignment across teams, suppliers, and stakeholders, enabling high-quality, timely, and controlled releases that support the transformation of the GB electricity market.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the end-to-end coordination of release trains, ensuring alignment across multiple teams, suppliers, and delivery streams
- Plan and manage release schedules, dependencies, and delivery timelines across complex programmes
- Ensure effective release governance, controls, and quality assurance are applied across all deployments
- Coordinate with Product Owners, Delivery Managers, and technical teams to align priorities and delivery plans
- Manage cross-team dependencies, risks, and issues, ensuring timely resolution and escalation where required
- Support Agile delivery practices, including planning cycles and release readiness activities
- Oversee release readiness, deployment activities, and post-release reviews, ensuring successful outcomes
- Drive continuous improvement in release management processes and tooling
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of system changes
- Provide clear reporting and communication to senior stakeholders on release progress, risks, and performance
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in release management, programme delivery, or Agile delivery leadership roles
- Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (e.g. SAFe) and release train concepts
- Experience coordinating complex, multi-team or multi-supplier technology deliveries
- Strong knowledge of release governance, dependency management, and delivery assurance
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including senior-level engagement
- Ability to manage risks, issues, and competing priorities in fast-paced environments
- Strong organisational and planning skills with attention to detail
- Experience working in large-scale transformation programmes or system implementations
- Experience within regulated environments, energy, or utilities sectors (desirable)
