Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)/Cloud Infrastructure Engineer - Public Sector
Experienced Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer required for a high-profile Public Sector programme.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in Azure cloud infrastructure engineering
- Demonstrable experience deploying and managing Azure Virtual Desktop
- Deep expertise in RBAC and IDAM implementation in enterprise environments
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across cloud, infrastructure, and end-user environments
- Hands-on experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions (Azure Backup, Site Recovery or similar)
- Solid understanding of cloud security principles and operational security (OpSec)
- Experience documenting technical solutions, challenges, and outcomes
Additional desirable experience includes
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (eg, Terraform, ARM templates, Bicep)
- Exposure to automation and Scripting (PowerShell, Azure CLI)
- Experience working in regulated or public sector environments
This role requires an experienced Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)/Cloud Infrastructure Engineer with strong troubleshooting capability and a broad Microsoft skill set. You will focus on the design, delivery, and support of enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure, with particular emphasis on virtual desktop environments, identity, and platform reliability. You need excellent stakeholder management experience. You will be troubleshooting and resolving complex issues across AVD, identity, messaging, and infrastructure layers.
Monitor platform health via logging, alerting, and proactive issue resolution
Produce high-quality documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures aligned to ITIL
This is a key role within a high-profile Public Sector programme, delivering a secure, scalable, and modern cloud-based end-user computing environment. You'll play a central role in shaping and supporting a high-performing Azure platform that underpins critical services.
.6-month contract, highly likely to extend rate to £550/day (Inside IR35), hybrid working in London. Initially 2 days a week in office.
