Climate Scientist
Are you a climate scientist with expertise in tropical or extra-tropical cyclones As a Contract Climate Scientist, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team of climate scientists, geospatial analysts, and loss modellers.You will take the lead development and evaluation of hazard models for storm-related perils such as tropical cyclones, storm surge, and European windstorms.Your work will directly inform the physical risk insights delivered to global banking and asset management clients.This is a contract position for 3-4 months initially, working hybrid in London. Your impact as Contract Climate Scientist :
- Develop and refine global-scale storm hazard models grounded in scientific research.
- Assess the impacts of climate change on storm frequency, intensity, and related risks.
- Conduct robust model evaluation and verification for internal and client-facing use.
- Collaborate with climate scientists and engineers to co-develop integrated risk models.
- Present findings to clients, scientific stakeholders, and industry conferences.
- PhD or equivalent experience in climate science, atmospheric science, or hazard modelling.
- Minimum 3 years of postdoctoral or industry experience with tropical or extra-tropical cyclones.
- Proficiency in Python and cloud-based scientific computing.
- Excellent communication skills, with a client-oriented mindset.
