Senior Java Engineer – Microservices Migration (iGaming) Are you a Senior Java Engineer who has led or been deeply involved in moving monolithic platforms to modern microservices architecture? If you enjoy complex systems, large scale integrations and building reliable back ends, this could be a great next step.Package: £80,000 to £90,000, 30 days holiday, private healthcare, pension. London based with hybrid working, 3 days from home.About the Role You will play a key role in migrating an existing monolithic Java platform to a modern microservices architecture. This platform powers the company’s game engine and integrates their products with multiple operators, so reliability, performance and scalability are critical.You’ll work closely with architecture and engineering teams to design new services, refactor existing components, and ensure smooth integration with MySQL and downstream systems. You’ll also contribute to technical decision making around service design, data modelling and system performance.This is not just a maintenance role. You’ll be actively shaping how the back end evolves, breaking down legacy components and helping build a cleaner, more modular system for the future.About the Company You’ll join a well established iGaming technology business that builds high performance systems used by operators across multiple markets. - Strong commercial Java experience
- Hands on experience migrating from monolith to microservices
- Solid MySQL experience and strong data modelling skills
- Deep understanding of service architecture, APIs and distributed systems
- Experience working on scalable, high availability back ends
- Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Spring or Spring Boot
- Docker, Kubernetes or containerised environments
- CI/CD pipelines
- Performance optimisation experience
