Security Engineer Operations & Infrastructure

Remote, full time

Are you a proactive problem-solver with a sharp eye for detail and a collaborative mindset? Elysium Healthcare is seeking a Security Engineer who combines technical depth with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. In this pivotal role, you'll help safeguard our hybrid infrastructure by leading security operations, incident response, and infrastructure hardening—ensuring our systems remain resilient, compliant, and secure.

You’ll work cross-functionally with IT, Cloud, and Infrastructure teams, as well as external SOC and MSSP partners, embedding security into daily operations and strategic delivery. If you're passionate about cyber defence, thrive in fast-paced environments, and can translate complex risks into clear actions, we’d love to hear from you.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need proven experience in operational and infrastructure security—covering incident response, SOC collaboration, cloud platform protection (especially Azure), and secure configuration across Windows and Active Directory environments. Confidence in using Microsoft security tools (Defender, Sentinel, Azure Policy), managing vulnerabilities, and supporting compliance frameworks like GDPR, NHS DSPT, and Cyber Essentials Plus is essential. Strong communication and cross-team collaboration are key, and we welcome candidates with exposure to SIEM/SOAR automation, NAC solutions, Linux security, and healthcare-specific risks as valuable additions. Flexibility, responsiveness, and a commitment to continuous learning will set you apart.

This is a remote-based role, offering flexibility while ensuring close collaboration with colleagues across services. Occasional travel may be required to support project delivery, governance forums, or training.

As a Security Engineer, you’ll play a key role

Key responsibilities

  • Operate and optimise Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, and vulnerability platforms
  • Lead incident triage and remediation, coordinating with SOC and internal teams
  • Maintain documentation, runbooks, and post-incident reviews
  • Enforce secure baselines (CIS, Microsoft) and monitor patch/configuration compliance across Windows, Linux, AD, and Azure
  • Drive vulnerability scanning and remediation efforts, delivering clear risk reporting
  • Embed security into change and project governance via forums like TDA and CAB

Key Accountabilities

  • Security tooling is aligned with detection and compliance goals
  • Incidents are resolved within SLAs, with lessons learned improving processes
  • Secure configurations and patching policies are consistently enforced
  • Vulnerability management leads to measurable risk reduction
  • Risk reporting supports governance and assurance
  • Security is embedded in technical design and change governance
  • Compliance with frameworks (e.g. NHS DSPT, NIST, CE+) is evidenced and documented

What Success Looks Like in This Role:

You’ll be expected to triage and resolve security incidents promptly, maintaining thorough investigation records. Patch and configuration compliance should consistently meet or exceed defined thresholds, with a clear reduction in high-risk vulnerabilities over time. Your work will support audit and assurance activities through accurate, complete, and timely evidence—ensuring our security posture remains strong and well-documented.
