Senior Python Engineer
About the role
You’ll be working closely with the wider engineering, QA and product teams across New Zealand, Australia, Dubai and the EU. It’s a full-stack role building features across our Python/Django platform, and you’ll also work directly with customers, understanding their problems, helping solve technical issues, and making sure what we build actually works for them.
As an early hire in a new office, you’ll have a real hand in shaping how the UK team works. The role will require a mix of in office/hybrid.
What you’ll do
- Build and ship full-stack features across our core Python/Django platform.
- Work directly with customers on technical questions and issues — understanding their needs and helping them get value from the business
- Investigate and resolve production issues, and take part in an on-call roster shared across the team.
- Design and maintain integrations and APIs between the business and the systems our customers use.
- Write clean, well-tested code and take part in code review.
- Help establish good engineering practices in the new UK office as they grow.
What you’ll bring
We don’t expect you to tick every box, but you should recognise yourself in most of these.
- 4+ years’ commercial experience as a full-stack developer (high-mid to senior level).
- Strong with Python and Django, and comfortable across the full stack including front-end work.
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience building and maintaining APIs and integrations.
- A good grasp of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL).
- Hands-on experience investigating and resolving production issues in a live environment, and comfortable being part of an on-call roster.
- Strong customer-facing skills — or a clear ability and willingness to develop them. You can talk to customers directly and translate their problems into solutions.
- Happy working across time zones, including some early mornings or evenings to connect with international teams.
- Experience in a SaaS or multi-tenant environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English, and the right to work in the UK.
Nice to have
- Experience helping stand up a new team or office.
- Aviation, regulated industries, or other safety- or compliance-critical environments.
About you
You’re practical and delivery-focused, and you enjoy the variety of a full-stack role. You’re comfortable talking to customers and genuinely care about solving their problems, not just shipping code. You’re self-directed and happy with the ambiguity of an early-stage office, and you work well with people across different locations and time zones.
Why join
- Be one of the first engineers in the new UK office and help shape how it works.
- Build real product used by multinational organisations around the world.
- Work across the full stack with direct customer impact, not siloed away from the people who use what you build.
- Join a growing international team where your ideas and contributions have visible impact.
