STEM Mentor

The organisation offers a range of programs for children aged 4–16 in North London, including multiple levels of Lego Robotics, Coding with Scratch and Python, and AI Game Development. The team focuses on making complex STEM concepts engaging, practical, and accessible to young learners, helping them develop problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration skills.

Role Description: The STEM Mentor will deliver engaging, hands-on sessions in robotics, coding, and engineering to learners aged 4–16, using tools such as Lego Robotics, Scratch, and Python. This contract, on-site role in the London Area, United Kingdom, involves planning and preparing lesson materials, setting up equipment, and ensuring a safe, inclusive learning environment. The STEM Mentor will guide students through projects, explain STEM concepts in age-appropriate language, and provide individualised support to learners with different abilities and learning styles. Responsibilities also include monitoring student progress, giving constructive feedback, communicating with caregivers or partners where needed, and contributing ideas to improve curricula and activities.

Skills Required:

• Strong STEM knowledge, ideally in robotics, engineering fundamentals, and computer science concepts relevant to learners aged 4–16.
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Lego Robotics, Scratch, Python, and basic AI or game development platforms.
• Prior experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or leading youth activities in educational or enrichment settings.
• Excellent communication, classroom management, and group facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young learners.
• Demonstrated commitment to creating inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environments for diverse students.
• Strong organisational skills, reliability, and the ability to follow structured curricula while adapting to learner needs.
• Relevant degree, coursework, or certifications in STEM, education, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work on-site in the London Area and availability during after-school hours, weekends, or school holidays as required.
• Willingness to complete any required background checks and safeguarding training.
