About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to take a lead role in building, optimising, and securing the infrastructure that powers our client’s critical applications and services. You’ll be the bridge between software development and IT operations—designing robust systems, driving automation, ensuring reliable deployments, and keeping everything running smoothly with minimal downtime.
This is a high-visibility, hands-on role where you’ll collaborate across teams, solve complex challenges, and shape how we evolve our client’s DevOps capabilities as the organisation grows. You’ll mentor others, provide technical insight to management, and ensure that systems remain secure, scalable, and fit for the future.
What You’ll Do
-
Design and manage scalable infrastructure using best practices in security, reliability, and performance.
-
Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines to enable seamless, rapid deployment.
-
Automate workflows to reduce manual effort and increase efficiency.
-
Upgrade and maintain cloud platforms with minimal service disruption and clear documentation.
-
Develop monitoring and alerting systems to proactively prevent issues before they impact users.
-
Lead incident response efforts and provide advanced troubleshooting when challenges arise.
-
Work across teams – supporting development, QA, Service Desk, and Field Engineering to improve processes and resolve escalations.
-
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.
-
Ensure compliance and security standards are met at all times.
-
Provide structured feedback to management on process and technology strategies.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
-
Proven track record of delivering and maintaining cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices.
-
Strong experience with automation, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and system security.
-
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyse complex issues methodically.
-
Strong communication skills – able to explain technical concepts clearly.
-
Self-motivation, resilience, and ability to work independently without supervision.
-
Full, clean UK driving licence and access to a suitable car (regular travel required).
-
Willingness to undergo DBS, NPPV3, and HMPPS Cat A Security Clearance vetting.
Desirable:
-
Experience with advanced monitoring, serverless architectures, or microservices.
-
Track record of mentoring or leading technical teams.
-
Relevant cloud or DevOps certifications (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud, security).
-
Enthusiasm for continuous professional development and driving innovation.
What We Offer
-
High-impact role with scope to influence strategy and process.
-
Professional growth opportunities – our client actively supports staff in developing their skills and responsibilities, including funded training or certifications.
-
Hybrid working with a base in Glasgow and home flexibility.
-
Collaborative, forward-thinking environment where initiative is encouraged.
Join our client and help build a future where robust infrastructure, automation, and innovation come together to deliver excellence.
