Role: Enterprise Architect | Digital Consultancy, Public Sector

Location: Remote (UK), with occasional travel to client sites including the North East Engagement: Permanent Package: £75,000 - £95,000 base + bonus + benefits Sponsorship: Unable to provide sponsorship for this position

An Enterprise Architect role with an international digital consultancy delivering transformation across the UK public sector. You will lead an end-to-end service architecture review for a major UK local authority, owning current-state mapping, target-state design and a costed roadmap that turns strategy into deliverable change.

About Our Client

An international digital consultancy with delivery teams across the UK, Europe, US and India, partnering with central government, local government, healthcare and regulated private-sector clients. They have a strong reputation for public sector digital transformation and a healthy pipeline of architecture-led engagements. This hire is to strengthen their architecture practice with a senior practitioner who can lead engagements from discovery through to delivery.

What You'll Be Doing as an Enterprise Architect

  • Leading the end-to-end service architecture review for a UK public sector client, defining both current and target-state landscapes.
  • Producing a practical, costed roadmap that covers transition states, dependencies and sequencing within realistic organisational constraints.
  • Driving options appraisals across buy vs build vs reuse and system replacement vs optimisation, with clear, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders across IT, digital, service areas and transformation teams to build consensus and confidence.
  • Facilitating architecture workshops and validation sessions, and providing architectural assurance across all deliverables.
  • Contributing technical input into cost models, risk registers and implementation timelines for downstream delivery.

What We're Looking For From The Enterprise Architect

  • Proven track record delivering enterprise architecture reviews in UK public sector environments.
  • Strong grounding in application architecture, integration patterns and legacy system modernisation.
  • Hands-on experience producing architecture maps, target operating models and transformation roadmaps.
  • Confident translating complex technical architecture into business outcomes for non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with case management systems, customer service platforms and AI-enabled transformation.
  • Exposure to local government or environmental / regulatory services is a strong plus.

Qualifications

  • Degree-level education or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, AWS or Azure are welcome but not essential.
